June

June is always seems to be an extremely busy month. It is full of birthdays, Father's day, our anniversary, and countless other activities. Next year I really need to start planning out the summer several months in advance. I'll let myself off easy this year though on account of Thomas. When in doubt, blame the baby :)

We celebrated Craig's birthday with a fun hike by "Lake" Hodges with Elizabeth and family. No one knows why it is called a lake since half the time it is all dried up, but we did manage to find this little tiny stream along the way. Made all the better by the presence of crayfish.

We celebrated Michael's birthday with a trip to the Safari Park. Always a fun time.

We enjoyed watching this duck sleep on one leg with his neck tucked in behind him.

We didn't know how long we would have before Thomas would cause trouble but he did quite well. In fact, he slept most of the time which is why we had to wait to take our family picture until we were outside the park.

It was so nice to get out and have a family adventure. Michael has been so busy with work and school that it was a much needed break.

We then finished off the birthday celebrations by having dinner with Craig and Marilyn at Sammy's Woodfired Pizza in honor of Marilyn and Michael's birthdays. Thomas did not do so well on this occasion.

Happy Anniversary

We celebrated our fourth anniversary. Well, celebrated is an overstatement. Michael left early for work and then didn't get home until 10pm because of school, so we didn't get to see much of each other. Somehow he still found time to get me flowers and some delicious treats. What a wonderful man. And what a wonderful four years it has been (as this blog can attest).

And in what was sort of a celebration, we opened up this watermelon that we've had since last November.

I actually thought deep down that maybe it would be ok. I mean, squash can last many months so why not melons. Sadly, it was not at all edible.

Our pink lemonade lemon, on the other hand, was quite edible, quite fragrant, and also quite delicious (when covered in sugar).

And to finish off, a picture of Thomas and I in our matching outfits last Sunday. Why is it so hard to get that kid to smile for the camera?

Ok wait for it

That's better.
