The new addition

There seems to have been an increase in the number of babies in our ward in the past few weeks and it got us thinking. After a little bit of discussion and a lot of deep thought we decided that indeed there was something missing from our lives.....

.....and so we got Lily

We really did think a lot about getting a kitten. We were almost going to let it be, but then the shelter had this great deal where you could get a kitten for $25 and it would come with a free spay, microchip, and vet check. We just couldn't let a deal like that slide, especially when we saw Lily.

Sadly, we didn't take any pictures when we first got her so she is a little older and less kitten-like in these pictures

She's still pretty cute in person though. 

The day we got her the veterinary technician said that she would probably be very drowsy from the surgery (spay) and would sleep most of the evening. The moment we got home she was running around systematically checking out every nook and cranny. Alan and Allison came over and brought a laser pointer, which meant several more hours of running around. You would think after that she would be tired, but instead she spent the night sneaking up to Michael's face, poking him were her paw, and then mewing. It was pretty adorable, but if that is considered drowsy then we were in for a long year of no sleeping.

Thankfully the next night the effects of the surgery had worn off so we didn't have to worry about a repeat of her "drowsy" behavior. She slept through the entire night.

We had our first proud parents moment (because having a kitten is pretty exactly the same as having a kid...)

 Oh and of course Lily has chosen Michael as her favorite, he being the one who was most hesitant to get a cat... Apparently they hang out late at night when I'm asleep. Traitor cat.

We don't have any funny videos yet, although we've tried.

She does this funny thing where if you lay on the ground she will climb onto your back and start massaging you. Sadly, she's camera shy and so every time we try to get it on video she won't do it. 

So there it is. We have a kitten.
