(Michael) Amazing to think that our daughter is 6 months old. Seems like not too long ago we were at Blaze Pizza getting our Pi Day pizza for $3.14 the night before the scheduled C-section. Ah, we were so young a naive back then.
It was oddly strange to walk into the hospital without any labor. It felt completely different than last time. In fact my only issue with the whole process was that we had to be in the reception area by 5:00am, and that we still waited around for a couple hours before anything happened. But really I can't complain.
Amanda did great, although when they brought me into the operating room, they politely told me that they had given her an extra dose of sedatives. Apparently she had been a little confrontational after the first round of drugs. Other than that, the surgery went without a hitch and we got to meet our beautiful baby girl. (Amanda) Note to self: don't do drugs. Apparently it makes me freak out. All I remember after they gave me the spinal is trying to wiggle around and getting mad that my body wasn't responding.
Thomas has been a great big brother. He is really protective of Rebecca, even from daddy. He tells everyone to be careful and not pick her up; probably because he has heard me tell him the same thing over an over. He does get a little excited and likes to pull on her limbs but at least he's not intentionally out to get her.
How do you like being a big brother? Thumbs up.
When we first brought her home Thomas knelt down in front of her and whispered "so precious." It was a very sweet moment. He also likes to come up to her every so often and say "Becca so cute."
He often refers to her as "little miss" or "little nugget/Becca nugget." Although balancing two schedules is a lot harder, the sweetness between siblings takes having children to a whole new level.
A few weeks after Rebecca was born Michael had a secret shop for a resort along the coast. Aside from the fact that I couldn't use the pool it was a really nice little mini vacation. And Becca got her first taste of being a younger sibling. No fancy bassinets or one use baby items for you little one, you get to sleep in the drawer. It was nice and easy to "tuck her in" at night ;)
When she was first born Rebcca's cry sounded like a peacock (ba-waaaaaaah). Similar to this video.
We weren't ever able to catch it but here are a few squeaks.
