(Michael) Last week I was blessed to have some people from the ward come over and help me with our backyard. For the last couple years, Amanda and I have been slowly sifting the dirt in the bottom part of our backyard (ever since we found glass, bolts, electrical components, and all sorts of dangerous-looking items down there). It really is quite amazing how much of this stuff there is. Under different circumstances it would almost be fun, sort of like a treasure hunt. But after many many months of doing it ourselves, it was definitely not fun. Here is a little taste of the kinds of things we would find:
A few weeks ago, a guy in our elders quorum asked us if we wouldn't want to have the ward help out. I felt a bit sheepish, but realized that this was probably the only way this project was going to get done in any reasonable amount of time. It was humbling to see how many people came and how they even brought their kids. They did a great job and boy was I grateful for their help!
