I keep meaning to take pictures of our progress in the front yard but I can't seem to remember during daylight hours. So instead you get more pictures of animals. Ever since we bought a house and had a baby our blog posts seem to only include 3 things: Thomas, plants, or animals. Or food, although even our food posts have died down. Apparently we need to get out more...
One day we were sitting in the nursery with Thomas when Michael started talking excitedly and pointing out the window at the jacaranda tree in our yard. You should have seen him running around like a chicken with it's head cut off (not speaking from experience with our own chickens of course) looking for the camera. Why? Because there were 7 or 8 baby birds who looked like they were on their first flight out of the nest. SO CUTE! It was fun watching their attempts at flying. They would jump of the branch and fall so far before popping back up.
A little less exciting was the day I looked outside and saw a baby bird on the ground below these nests. I put it back just to see what would happen (even though I knew it's chances were slim) only to find two more pushed out later on. Then after that I found some splattered eggs from the nest across from it. I wonder if the two mothers were at war or something. Remind me never to cross one of these little guys, it could cost me my offspring.
The cats, as usual, have been up to no good. Apparently the large sliding glass doors do not provide enough of a view into the world so they had to make their own window by breaking off parts of the blinds in the garage. It's Lily's new favorite spot.
Our buff orpington chicken - Chewbacca - is broody (meaning she wants to hatch eggs). She sits in the nesting box all day long and refuses to leave. If you try to touch her she puffs up to 3 times her size and when we succeed in pushing her off she suddenly realizes she is STARVING and goes running for food. It's rather fun to watch, if not a little pathetic. I tried to tell her the eggs will never hatch, but she doesn't believe me. I guess I should give her props for dedication. Apparently this is going to last 3 weeks.
And for the plant portion of our post - here is an apple that grew on our tree. We were surprised they got so big considering how young/small the trees are still. The branch was definitely leaning due to the weight. Good job little apple tree. I can't wait for the trees to be at full size and production.
Hilarious! We enjoyed all of your updates so much! The boys and I got a good laugh about the two pictures capturing Thomas' fast mood changes. Roo likes making different sound effects to every picture of Thomas.:)
