If you were grossed out by my last finger post I encourage you to skip right past to the second half of the update where you will find cute pictures of Lily that are meant to offset the grossness that is my finger.
I got my stitches out on Wednesday. Sadly, it wasn't as painless as everyone told me it would be. It was the doctor that shattered my hope. One of the first things he asked me was whether or not I had taken any pain medications before coming. At first I didn't understand and thought maybe he had planned on giving me some antibacterial medication that wouldn't mix well with pain meds. He didn't really say anything so I told him of my excitement upon learning that stitches don't hurt when they are removed and so of course I didn't need to take any pain meds. He sort of hesitated for a moment and that's when I knew I had been horribly deceived. He then proceeded to tell me it would potentially hurt a lot and they were going to try and give me some lidocaine externally to ease the pain. He also told me not to get my hopes up since the stitches were so deep.
To be honest it wasn't so bad, especially compared to my visit to the doctor the week before where I left in more pain than when I initially cut my finger. Only the two deepest stitches put up a fight. My finger still looked pretty gross though.

(I promise it is not my intention to dissuade people from reading our blog. I'll try o keep all future posts PG, but this was just too good not to share; it's just so gross.)
Even better was that the doctor gave me a prescription for some antibacterial ointment that worked wonders in under 24 hours. Just look at the difference.
Looks pretty good if you ask me, especially if you compare it to the picture of when I first got my stitches. The blood even returned to a lot of it so I don't have to lose a bunch of skin like the doctors initially thought. I'm pretty proud of the little guy.
I can even bend it a little. Feeling is still limited since I destroyed all of the nerves, but I feel so blessed for how lucky I was not to have cut any tendons.
In other news, we gave Lily her first bath.
This is how she felt about it....
At first she didn't mind the idea of a bath
Until she caught on to the fact that it wasn't for us....
