As per tradition, it began with a pumpkin breakfast. This year Amanda made delicious pumpkin french toast (no pictures of that because we practically inhaled it).
Next it was off to pick apples in Julian. This year Thomas was able to grasp the concept a lot better, although he did spend a lot of the time hovering over the rotting apples on the ground covered in bees. He's surprisingly interested in bees for a toddler who has already been stung three times. When Thomas wasn't simply taking a single bite out of an apple and then throwing it on the ground, he loved to run around with an apple in each hand.
We then went to a pumpkin patch in Ramona. It was a lot better than I had remember complete with a goat maze, Radio Flyers, and a petting zoo (with a cool but neglected bison). Out of all the animals there, Thomas really latched onto the pig. He spent a while just sitting there petting one while speaking softly. This kid seems destined for 4H...right? After prying Thomas away from his new found friend, we took him to pick out a little pumpkin. He love riding around in the Radio Flyer (although he had his usual Thomas expression of "yes slaves, push me around and do my bidding"). We did have to cut the experience a little short though because although the day was supposed to celebrate the end of summer, it was getting way too toasty.
I guess Thomas doesn't realize that seeing a Bison isn't an everyday occurrence; he was much more interested in the horse next store. Go figure.
