Michael had a couple days off between Christmas and New Year's Eve so we tried to live it up. We started out with a trip to the zoo. Thomas was much more appreciative this time around. It was fun watching him trying to get each animal's attention and talk to them.
I didn't have the camera out in time, but while we were visiting the cheetah enclosure they took one of them out to take it to a private meeting. We got within five feet of it while it was on the leash. Michael was on the opposite side of the sidewalk we were on and had to move out of the cheetah's way. Pretty fun.
This elephant also wanted to hang out.
Thomas loved the elephant structures
I love how tiny he is in comparison
Since we had a "winter storm" here in California, there was a little bit of snowfall in the mountains nearby. I've wanted to go sledding so bad after our fun adventure in Big Bear so I had been watching and waiting for this all winter.
Apparently so was everyone else in San Diego.
We headed up the mountain around 10:30am and hit minimal traffic; however, when we left around 1pm, the cars were backed up for over 25 miles. They said people could drive to Phoenix before making it up to Julian (normally an hour drive). I have never been more thankful for alcohol and hangovers.
I was worried Thomas would either freak out and cry in the snow, or like in most cases, act like it is nothing out of the ordinary. Thankfully he was quite intrigued.
I think he likes it :)
He especially enjoyed being pulled around in the sled.
His downhill sledding was a little anticlimactic.
But he loved the snowman Michael built for him
Which he promptly decapitated
And then tried to repair
Maybe he just didn't like tat the snowman was taller?
It was all going so well, until this happened...
And that was the end of our snow day.
Yay for snow!
That second to last picture is hilarious. Haha! Hope he recovered.
